Happy hearts and kisses day! The kids have been out of school since they released classes early on Wednesday, just in the knick of time before we got hit with a big, uncharacteristic-for-North-Carolina, snow and ice storm. Did you see this?
Our awesome school leaders went viral in less than 24 hours with this catchy video. Check out the # of views!!! I had a feeling it was going to go beyond the borders of Durham when Carrie in Kalamazoo texted me the link on her news in Michigan, just a few hours after it was posted.
Thankfully, the sun is brilliant this morning, which sadly means this hot number won't be chillin' in my yard much longer...
…but the snow was fun while it lasted, and I am ready to say BUH-BYE to this cold wet frozen stuff.
The boys had a BLAST in this round of fluff. It came really fast (hence all the stories of people stranded on the highways). We were fortunate to have Daddy come home JUST before the storm worsened, and we spent the afternoon sledding.

Our foliage is not impressed with this weather. Our poor eucalyptus tree really felt the burden of the snow and ice. Update - she thawed a bit and perked up this morning (the same can be said about me…this sun is so therapeutic!).
It's also been fun feeding and watching the birds during this storm. They seem to eat nonstop during this weather and are extra puffy (ha-again, that could describe myself!). Between the bluebirds, cardinals, chickadees, and all their other feathered friends, we have been filling feeders rapidly!
As for my frozen friend with the shades, he was a creation by David. Very appropriate for our day of hearts and kisses! Mr. Snowman won't be around for long…Thursday's predicted temperature is…78 degrees!!!
