37 Hours, 2 states, awesome sports!

This past weekend will go down in our family of 5's history as one epic road trip. We left at 10:00am Saturday for College Park, Maryland to cheer on our Michigan State Spartans against Maryland. We met up with the Lantzy family and some of their friends at our hotel and headed over to campus to tailgate (turns out Merritt is very, very protective of Sparty...ask us about that one!). We attended the MSU Alumni Association's tailgate - catered, inside, WARM - and we had a blast hanging out with lots of friendly people in green and white. And, we got to see SPARTY!

MSU's band didn't come, but Maryland's band showed up to play OUR fight song!

Next, on to the stadium for the 8pm kickoff! It was COLD but we were prepared!

We were the last family standing in our group and even when we headed back to our car during the 4th quarter, the kids were protesting that they wanted to stay until the bitterly cold end. We climbed into bed in our hotel at 12:30am and then...

...at this absurd hour (yes, that is a.m.) we packed into our car and headed to Williamsburg, VA to cheer Gavin and the Carolina Cannons on at the Colonial Challenge Lacrosse Tournament.

Merritt and Ian were gems during the tournament - they love to cheer on the Cannons and Gavin, make scoreboards and track the score, and play happily on their blanket in the midst of all the excitement. They practically have their own fan club.

Gavin had a fantastic tournament, scoring in all 4 games. 

It is a true pleasure to watch that boy on the field. 

And, the U11 Cannons won their division!

It's weekends like this that give me the warm fuzzies - I love my boys, my boys love each other, and we love taking on adventures like this as a family. Good times!
