This weekend was GREAT! We started out Friday night eating pizza poolside, taking advantage of one of the last pool weekends of the season. Why didn't we spend every Friday with pizza poolside?! Write that one down for next year!
Early Saturday morning I left all the male beings exactly like this while I escaped for a long run:
As you can see, they were really concerned that I was leaving. Obviously, Arlo was already fed, David moved from the bed to the sofa, and the kids were enjoying some TV after their school-is-in-so-there-is-no-TV week. See, there is a method to my madness.
Saturday after lunch, we dropped the boys off with Brenda and Cheryl for 24 HOURS! Yes, you totally read that correctly. For Christmas last year, they gifted us an amazing overnight stay at the Fearrington Inn, and this weekend we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our get-away. While the boys went to the pool, went out to eat, watched a movie, had a sleepover, and went treasure hunting at a flea market with B & C, David and I drove off to the Inn, enjoyed afternoon tea, did some shopping at the village, had an AMAZING 4 course meal (examples: watermelon and cucumber gazpacho with lemon and basil sorbet, octopus, sous-vide salmon, fois gras, etc etc.), enjoyed a relaxing and amenity-filled deluxe room, and indulged in even more food at our gourmet breakfast this morning. What a weekend!
Cheers!
Look! A relaxed couple!
One of the 'famous' features of the farm is the herd of Belted Galloways. The are absolutely adorable, with curly shaggy coats of brown and black. This morning after breakfast we walked the grounds and found the babies. So sweet.
Thank you, Brenda and Cheryl for the chance to get away and enjoy each other, and for taking such amazing care of our boys!
