Today, my middle man turned 7! What?! How can it be?
Grandma and Grandpa Y are in town, and festivities kicked off last night with a pre-birthday meal (courtesy of Daddy, who had to work tonight). Merritt chose cedar-planked salmon on the grill (another foodie in the family) and we served it with pilaf and sautéed mushrooms and a salad, with strawberry cake for dessert. As you can see, he approved.
After a good night of digesting, we kicked off his actual birthday with a hearty breakfast…big day ahead!
Even Arlo felt festive (but a little disappointed that he didn't get two kinds of breakfast meat too…).
Next up, presents!
New Legos always gets a smile!
Super proud of his new Dutch jersey!
My, how fiercely these brothers love each other.
Ian penning a note to M on Merritt's new boogie board with the help of big brother G.
Once our bellies were full and the presents unwrapped, we headed to the pool.
And then, took in a screening of "How to Train Your Dragon 2" (awesome, by the way).
Finally, dinner at Kanki! Who doesn't want a flaming volcano on their birthday?!
We love you, Merritt. Your creative, tree-climbing, bug-loving, artistic and inquisitive self keeps us laughing and staring in wonder each and every day (sometimes it is in bewilderment, but boy are you amazing!).
