August has pretty much been the 'month of Gavin', as we led up to his 5th birthday celebrating in many special ways. This Thursday was the REAL thing, and he got to start his day with 'happy birthday pancakes', and then shared cupcakes with his class at school, and then spent a little time on the climbing wall with John (see pic below of him sporting his new chalk bag - thank you neighbors. . . . .), and of course got more presents from friends and then wrapped up the day by taking a family bike ride to get ice cream. Whew! That night he told me, "tomorrow is my birthday, too, mom". . .
