guests from the north

This past week, we had the pleasure of hosting Grandma and Grandpa Bud here in Durham. It had been a long while since we had all been together, and we were long overdue for some memory-making here in the NC sun. I felt a little apologetic when they first arrived because temps were only topping out in the 50s, but I was quickly assured that it felt great compared to the temperature it was in Michigan when they departed. Which was 9 degrees.

We spent a lot of time just chilling out and absorbing some rays out back while the kids played. And we ate a lot of great food, and then talked about a lot of good food, and then ate some more good food! We will never tire or take for granted the awesome restaurants (and friends who can cook!) that we have here in Durham and Chapel Hill, and it is so fun to experience those with 'out of towners', too!
And, of course, we played a lot of lacrosse. Gav's season kicked off on Saturday with his first practice, and we also got to watch Duke beat Maryland in sudden-death overtime Saturday afternoon. I felt like at all times this weekend, someone had a lacrosse stick in their hand. Try it - it's pretty addictive!

two generations of lacrosse players!

we flew paper airplanes off the fort

we spent a lot of time piled onto the couch

we even went over to the school for some playground time and lacrosse
and another project was finished (almost...pictures of final work will come in another post!)

Come back soon! We love you!
