. . .we stopped at the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo. It was a great break after 3 hours in the car and fueled our excitement to pile back into the car and get to Carova!
The aquarium was a total surprise to Gav - or so we thought! We hadn't told him we were going there, but when we were about 2 blocks away, we said "guess where we are going?!" and he said "the aquarium!" Hmmmm. Needless to say, he was still very excited and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice and clean and educational it was.

The fish were amazing and there was something fascinating in every tank.
I think the family favorite was the otter exhibit, though!
It was neat to have a family activity where every single member was captivated.
