weekend project

The cooler weather enabled us to feel more productive this weekend than I think we were the entire summer. In addition to a big landscaping project, we also tackled a homemade Lego table for the boys. Because we wanted it right in the center of our main living space, we were feeling kind of picky about what we wanted to look at all the time. We were also feeling kind of cheap because some of those tables are super pricey. So, after searching around online for a good homemade version, we came across the IKEA Hackers site: http://www.ikeahackers.net/ (which is awesome, by the way) and found a great DIYversion. It was really pretty easy, and we only modified it a little bit to come up with 3 separate work stations. Trust me, equal elbow room for all is a necessity!

Here is David using the jigsaw...
Three holes!
We used the Ingo table from IKEA and cut 3 holes for storage bins and also cut the legs down to make it 'kid height'.
The boys approve!
And here it is in the scheme of the downstairs!
